Multitasking while driving

Further my previous post on multitasking is stupid I think it’s more dangerous if you multitask while driving. A good friend I know always uses his phone on the road. He will read and send SMS and email on his smartphone every chance he gets when the car stops at traffic light or when the […]

Starbucks closing 600 stores

I have spent many sessions in Starbucks to work online. It’s the sign of the time that Starbucks Corp is closing down 600 stores in the US. Sign of recession that is.
I don’t know if this will impact overseas branches like Starbucks Malaysia but I hope it doesn’t. In fact, Starbucks just opened new […]

USD exchange rate from PayPal

Withdrew RM 50 from the BSN ATM yesterday. Just wanted to check what’s the exchange rate today.
It’s RM 3.19 per USD. Minus a dollar for using the ATM. It’s pretty low My friend is still getting 3.80 for an MLM program in which he get’s paid in USD into his account.

Don’t know what to do with personal blog

More thoughts about this blog’s aim and objective..
This blog was launched for one egotistical purpose of getting my name on Google’s no. 1 spot for my own name “Andrew Ooi”.

That objective has been achieved some time back. Today I confirmed that I still take no. 1 and no. 2 spot on Google as well as […]

Dangers of Full Duplicated Content

Expanding further on my concerns about sites that syndicate your full content via feeds with our without your permission, I noticed that there is another factor to consider:
Duplicate content penalty
Google siding aggregators/syndicators
Yes many bloggers have screamed THEFT when they see their contents stolen off their blogs and placed into another site in the name […]

Entrecard idea

Using Powerdropping.com links has been useful but I found that many have become outdated as a result of members removing their Entrecard or even removing their blogs totally. The author of Powerdropping says he will update the list but I think that’s a daunting task and he can be forgiven for not refreshing the list […]

Splog calling another splog a splog?

This is definitely a case of the pot calling the kettle black:
As you know Planet Malaysia Aggregates page has been subjected to plagiarism site like http://planetmalaysia.inboogle.com and there is no action taken so far.
~ Planetmy - Fight Splogs article

They even go further to explain what is a splog and how to fight it. So […]

Syndicating full content - Ethical?

This is what’s been at the back of my mind these past few days. Is syndicating another blog’s website content ethical or not?
Syndicating here means to copy only the excerpt and not the entire blog post from another blog and post it on your blog. Also, a link to the original content authors must be […]

Current market price for Entrecard credits

Found this at eBay:-

USD 3.75 per 1000 entrecard credits and USD 20.00 for 5000 credits.
That’s roughly 1.1 cent (Malaysian) per card drop. Small money but it’s interesting that Entrecard manage to  indirectly create actual monetary value for a click.
It’s so much manual labour just to get 300 credits a day so I think it’s not […]

More eBook trickery

To be fair let’s not call them scam. They do offer some content in their eBook though the actual value of it may be close to nothing.
I did more research on the web and found that these dirty and increasingly becoming common techniques used by some dubious affiliate marketers to sell poor quality […]

Buy eBook to learn how to make money online?

This is one of the Google ads that appeared in some of my blogs lately. After finding out how OnlyInMalaysiaMah is a scam, I saw many similarities in the sale pitch of TheRichBoy.com too. Pictures of that 20 year old new car, condo and sports bike were to eerily the same as OnlyInMalaysiaMah. Funny […]

Do you have brain illness?

Just read this from Canada.com on Internet addition.

Compulsive e-mailing and text messaging could soon become classified as an official brain illness.
An editorial in this month’s issue of the American Journal of Psychiatry says Internet addiction — including “excessive gaming, sexual pre-occupations and e-mail/text messaging” — is a common compulsive-impulsive disorder that should be added to […]

Probloggerwiki.com spammed

Have to say this is a neglected side project of mine - ProbloggerWiki.com
I have not updated it for months and today visited it by chance. Noticed that the wiki’s home page has been defaced by spam bots.

Getting ripped of paying for custom static websites

Saw this adverts on the walls beside a sundry shop in Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands.
Do people still pay for static websites that costs RM 1500-2500 (USD 470- 800) ? With RM 300-500 (USD 90-150 ) per update ?
Apparently they do because I was just told by a friend of mine who just started his […]

Broadband is a catalyst to economic growth

Nice to find a supporting article to my anti-sucky broadband post.
The Connected Nation study estimates the U.S. would gain $92 billion in new wages from the 2.4 million jobs created through broadband growth.

There you have it. The study indicates billions of $$$ can be saved or gained by having good broadband. I […]

What? No free WiFi in Starbucks?

I was reading Techdirt’s article on “Starbucks Managers Begging To Free Up The WiFi” and was surprised to find out that WiFi is not free in Starbucks America. Here, in Malaysia it’s totally free. I usually (ahem) freeload when I pass a Starbucks by using my PDA to download my GMail via pop to read […]
