Dangers of Full Duplicated Content

Expanding further on my concerns about sites that syndicate your full content via feeds with our without your permission, I noticed that there is another factor to consider:
Duplicate content penalty
Google siding aggregators/syndicators
Yes many bloggers have screamed THEFT when they see their contents stolen off their blogs and placed into another site in the name […]

I’m finally no.1 on Google!

Yesterday I was pleased to see searches on Google.com (not Google.com.my) finally returned my website in the first position. I waited till today to see if it stayed that way and it did!
So here it is, I’m finally no. 1 on Google search for “Andrew Ooi“:

You may think this blog was to be another […]

Andrew Ooi totally owns Yahoo!

Top 5 Yahoo search results for my name “Andrew Ooi” refers to my websites.
In total, it’s 7/10 results referring to me. This was the initial purpose for setting up this website. Yes it’s totally egotistical and self-serving :).
Now if only I can do the same on Google SERPs where I’m at best only no.3.

Sweeping the heavies under the footer

I was getting really fed up of the long wait I had to endure to see my blog fully load up. The middle sidebar always showed up first and then it took almost half a minute for the main content to actually show. I don’t need sophisticated timing utilities to tell me which components were […]

Microhoo !

Microsoft + Yahoo = Microhoo Ha ha.. that’s what some CNet people like Tom Meritt and Molly Wood had been joking last year when there were rumours that Microsoft wanted to take over Yahoo. It was just rumours. Actually Microsoft has shown interest in acquiring Yahoo since May 2006. However, in the last few days […]

Install Wordpress in root or /blog folder?

I noticed that several of our top local bloggers use the /blog folder to install their WordPress. I thought that to be odd. Then I realise many automatic WordPress installation provided by webhosts install them in the /blog folder. Personally, I prefer www.liewcf.com instead of www.liew.com/blog, don’t you? For one thing, /blog just adds unnecessary […]

Indexed by Google in less than 2 minutes!

As soon as I posted my article on buying a PR4 website, I immediately did a vanity search on Google for “Pagerank Deficiency Syndrome”. I was surprised to see that it was already indexed.
All that took less than 2 minutes!! At least by my estimates
Fast eh?

Joining a linked list is not a smart idea

We all know that selling ads using Text Link Ads, TNX.net and LinkWorth is frowned at by search engine God, Google.
It’s the popular theory that this was the cause of the massive Page Rank drop for many bloggers these past few weeks. But do many of us know that being on a list of many […]

I rank number 1 for “Nuffnang Zero”

Just to check whether this new blog is indexed by Google, I tried searching for “Nuffnang Zero Income” and found my entry in the top position. Shortened the search term to “Nuffnang Zero” and it’s still number 1.

Oops, I guess I ranted too much on Nuffnang Zero Income.
Now if I can only rank no. […]

1000 students

I have taught computer programming for more than 8 years. In that time, I calculate that I have taught over 1000 students. That’s a mind boggling number to me
Of course, the things I taught were just short courses on basic computer programming such as elementary Pascal, C, C++, COBOL, Java etc which typically […]

AndrewOoi.com No 3

Finally made it to no. 3 on Google ranking for my name “Andrew Ooi”.

That’s only a small improvement but it’s better than super internet mogul John Chow who lost his Google rank and even dropped out of the first page of Google for search term of his name “John Chow”. I guessed he really pushed […]
