Trying out Thoughts.com

I have registered many Free Blog services just for the heck of experimenting and finding out their features. Here is another free blog service - Thoughts.com.
It took me only less than a minute to create and account and I tried out posting a post.

The first thing I noticed is the “Who can view” feature […]

Autoblogging site works

Autoblog is a process where your blog automatically goes out and gets content and creates the proper links without any human intervention. It’s the lazy blogger’s dream of making money in your pajamas.

Though I’ve not made it big but there are signs that autoblog works.
Anyway, I have to reiterate that my chess […]

I need an ADSL Modem!

Can anyone tell me if this modem TPLINK TD-8810 is any good ? I just want to replace my Streamyx Riger DB102 which was struck by lightning a few days ago. My modem warranty was only for 12 months so I have no choice but to buy a new ADSL modem. I just picked this […]

Awesome Web Analytics

GBTV #337 | Introducing Woopra from Neal Campbell on Vimeo. This looks like the one web analytics to rule them all. It’s definitely feature packed and looks better than Google Analytics. You can track your visitors live. If people like Mashable and GeekBrief are jumping up and down over it, it must be impressive. […]

Pligg, Digg, Innit ?

Pligg is a Digg clone so it’s probably more logical to ask what is Digg.
What is Digg?

Andrew Ooi vs 2Superheroes - a different comparison

The last 2 traffic competition between this blog and two superheroes was fun and also insightful. Besides comparing who has more traffic, another way to compare blogs is to look at the Alexa ranking, backlinks from Google and Yahoo etc.

The biggest difference is the Yahoo backlinks. I only have 42 while the 2superheroes have 3,740 […]

New favicon and template for my Tanah Rata blog

While listening to the election results on TV, I was choosing a better looking theme for my Tanah Rata website. I like this ‘parchment’ theme:-

You can get it here.
Also, I created a new favicon for this blogspot site. First I ‘drew’ this by hand using Paint Shop Pro 7 and then uploaded the 100×100 […]

Benefits of WordPress.com

I noticed many bloggers go for blogger.com instead of WordPress.com.
The probable reason is that WordPress.com disallows any advertising or paid post activities. That makes it very unappealing for bloggers who want to earn money from their blogs.
Anyway money making disadvantage aside, there are the benefits I’ve found using WordPress.com:-
Many juicy subdomains still available […]

Can’t find your old blog post?

I was trying to find one of my really old post on how Newbies always lose out to Early Adopters and could not find it !! Even a Google search using my domain name and keywords could not locate it. Guess I’m not that well indexed by Google yet.
Anyway, I remembered that my old chess blog […]

Free Logos for your site

Branding is everything right? When you have a new website or a product to promote, a logo is quite important. For me I love this free logo maker site LogoMaker. Just replaced the old dorky myMuka.com logo (created just this morning) with this new one from LogoMaker. So what do you think?

Created a logo using Cooltext

I’m no designer and I don’t have a creative bone in my body. So I’m grateful for websites that can generate logos and buttons online. Best thing is it’s free!
Here’s the logo I created for my new site MyMuka.com:-

Ok la.. not that great but not too bad either right?
The website I used for […]

Browsing Webpages is So 2007 !

I really don’t go out to buy the newspaper anymore. Not when you can find all the interesting news via online newspaper publications and blogs. One of the best online tools I’ve discovered a year or two ago is the news reader. It collectively groups all the news sources into one place.
Of course the clear […]

Akismet makes mistakes too

Akismet must be one of the best anti-comment spam tool on the net but it can make mistakes too. Like the one comment about my Cloverfield ‘review’ posts. I found it after being curious what type of spams I have in my Akismet spam inbox.
I de-spam the comment. Saved one genuine comment from being incernerated.

My favourite blogging tool - Scribefire

I rarely use WordPress admin dashboard to post my articles. Most of the time I use Scribefire, which is a FireFox plugin. I like it because it is nice and simple with WYSIWYG mode as well as HTML view where I can have full control over the formatting of the blog post.
