Woopra - first looks
I applied for a Woopra account more than a month ago and today I received an email saying that my account has been approved. Woopra is a stats program for your website on steroids! I was excited when I saw previews of it from GeekBrief.tv.
Here’s my first looks after a half an hour playing with it:
Stats Galore!
To me the most impressive feature has got to be live stats. As soon as a visitor hits your site, you can see details about him or her such as browser, screen resolution, country/city, IP etc. There is also a world map showing where your visitors originate from.
Everything Live !!
For any particular visitor, you can even see which page they are visiting, time spent and their movement within your web pages.
Chat LIVE !
To me the most impressive feature has to be the chat feature. You can pick any visitor that is currently on your site and choose to chat with him/her. You can even know the visitor by name/username if that visitor has commented on your blog before or registered themselves on your blog.
Just click on the visitor and the type some text to initiate the chat request.
The visitor will see a small blue popup box at the bottom of the browser. Clicking on the blue box will initiate the chat session.
A closer look..
he he.. now do you have the creepy feeling I’m watching you while you are reading this post?
Not only that, a chat box may even pop up asking you to chat with me
Yeah, some people may not like the idea of the webmaster lurking in the background watching your every move …
Installation a breeze
I installed Woopra here on this blog with the WordPress plugin they provided. It’s only one PHP file. Uploaded it, activated it and entered my given web id number. Then I downloaded their java program to view my stats. You can also view the stats via your WordPress web admin page but the Java program is much cooler with the live stats.
Initial Thoughts
One word. FANTASTIC !! This is definitely better than all the stats program I’ve used. I really don’t know how Woopra servers can handle such massive traffic of live data but so far my experience is pretty smooth. If they can keep up with the increase of membership (which is definitely going to be huge!), then this is a great FREE service. Yeah, the creators say that the service will stay FREE.
You can register yourself at Woopra.com but will have to wait for your blog/website to be approved. I don’t know how long that will be. I only got 2 blogs approved and just requested for more to be included in my account.

Hey, nice post with all the screenshots!! I like that. I also had to wait about a month. I’d nearly forgotten I applied, but last night I got setup and man, Woopra rocks!
