Cheap Canon Pixma IP 1600 still working after a year
I’m very surprised that this cheap Canon Pixma IP 1600 that I bought is still working. I have not printed on it for over a year !!
Ink didn’t dry out!
Just assumed that the ink had dried up and the head was clogged. That’s because I’ve gone thru 3 cheap Epson Stylus all of which had their head clogged up and could not be fixed. Still it’s not bad for a printer that was priced about RM 130 some time back. I just printed out a list of all my websites/blog with their PR / Alexa ranking / login names so I can have an overall look see. (Yep all that fit into one page only)
So I guess for budget printers Canon trumps Epson! At least in my books at the moment.
I’m thinking of getting the continuous ink system (CISS) for this printer on August when I need to print out massive amount of newsletter daily for about a week at a major international chess tournament.
CISS
From my calculations, printing out the newsletter there and then is almost the same as photostating it when done in bulk. I just hope the printer can last until August. But since it can last over one year with it’s ink intact, it’ll probably be ok in August (fingers crossed)

Whoops mistake. The printer I’m talking about is Canon. Keep getting confused with Epson vs Canon
Ok thanks for pointing that out. Corrected the brand names on the article already. Sorry for the confusion.
