I noticed a big drop in my Alexa from 170K to 460K. At first I was disappointed but I now know from the other blog posts the fall is across the board. Everybody had their Alexa rankings “adjusted”.

No specifics but Alexa did announce the change on their website. They mentioned “more sources” is used to come up with the final rank but no details about which source they are using.

Being the second most important web measurement metric after Google Page Rank I think this adjustment is significant.

Some speculate that the adjustment was needed because of the huge new numbers of websites going into the Alexa system.
