Back when I was working as a full time programmer, the highlight of my day was lunch time!

I would put on a pair of headphones and listen to tech news on my MP3 player while on my way to Petaling Street.

Ever since I worked at home, those lunch at Petaling Streets are rare.

So I woke up early and took the bus to Petaling Street. It’s 12pm and the bus was pretty empty. Rapid-KL busses have these 14inch LCD monitor installed. But I was listening to my CNet’s Buzz Out Loud podcast so I didn’t pay attention to what was on the monitor.

Reached the shop quite fast since there was no traffic. Noticed the Chicken Rice stall reopened with a different hawker. It’s been several years ago since they closed the shop.

Ordered the Lum Mee and Teh Ais. RM 6 in total.

Not many people as it’s still just before 1pm.

After lunch my routine was to walk around Petaling Street. So I took the walk without really looking for anything to buy.

Fruit stalls aplenty.

This is the main reason I walked thru Petaling Street.

My favourite Tau Foo Fah stall at Jln Sultan just opposite the Old Rex cinema. I ordered the “mix” (Soya bean mixed with Tau Foo Fah).

Then it’s back home by bus again. So many busses!

But none I can get into. At least not right away. One thing I don’t like about Klang Bus stand nowadays is that newly arrived bus just park there for 5-10 minutes before opening their doors. In the mean time, there is a crowd waiting for the empty bus to open it’s doors. All the while the engine is running and you can breathe sweet carbon monoxide while waiting :( . I don’t want to rant too much but I think there should be better procedures for Rapid KL. At least let the customers in first, sell them their fare, then close the doors temporarily so that drivers can take their customary rest time. Anyway, that’s just a suggestion.

Going back was a different story. The bus was pretty full and the driver was really brake happy. He would speed and then brake all of a sudden. At one time the person sitting next to me actually fell off his seat and ended up on the floor. It was lucky thing that nobody suffered any injuries bumping their head against the window or metal bars. Not all busses are like this. Guess I’m just unlucky I picked the wrong bus today.

Ah… one packet of soya bean wasn’t enough. I ‘ta pow’ two Tau Foo Fah back home. Bad bus incident forgotten :)

I don’t know whether it’s psychological or not butI find that without Tau Foo Fah after lunch I just find it hard to keep awake when I am back at the office right after lunch.
