Alexa redirects works!
You know the Alexa redirect technique that uses a URL like
http://redirect.Alexa.com/redirect?www.andrewooi.com
It’s just a theory of mine and I don’t have solid proof. But ever since Alexa killed the redirect feature, my own Alexa ranking has been dropping badly.
Last year was a different story. My home page in my browser is an Alexa redirect to AndrewOoi.com. Even though I have little traffic for this blog my Alexa was steadily improving almost weekly.
Fried beef once commented on my blog about how the redirect technique does not work. I have to take the opposite stance.
My Alexa rank was around 160K in November last year. Today it has fallen to 275K.
Ah.. that’s possibly the highest Alexa rank I’ll ever get
Anyway, it’s probably a good thing that this gaming technique is already taken out of the equation and Alexa rank becomes a wee bit more relevant.
Update: Just read Dosh Dosh article on 20 quick ways to increase your Alexa rank that I should put in the Alexa widget. I’ve added it to my sidebar.

That’s true Andrew. My traffic for http://megafitzone.com falls from an average of 200k to 600k. I wish I can see again the traffic of 200k again

If you depend on link or site selling as a form of monetization you’ll definitely want to increase your Alexa rank, because it’ll increase your bargaining power when it comes to ad pricing.

Yes good point. A good Alexa ranking also gives your site a higher price on paid post listings.
