Another WiFi session at the Mamak shop
Perhaps I should not have cursed Streamyx so much. My Streamyx connection went down this afternoon. Calling the TMNet support revealed that my account was temporarily suspended because of outstanding bills.
I have paid about RM 300 on December for outstanding bills so when another RM 300 bill came for February I was sure that was a mistake. I only paid for the January’s bill of RM 77 and not the accumulated total of RM 300 as I was sure they did not update their records yet. Since my payment was done online I had no receipt as proof. So I needed to get online to check my payment records.
So it’s off to my old WiFi haunt - the Mamak shop (also known as ABC Big Town Cafe).
It’s 6pm and still sunny. ABC is just beside Citrus Park food emporium (the old OUG plaza in Old Klang Road)
One Roti Telur with 2 Teh O Ais
Beside is some Thai-owned stalls selling clothes, bags and other goods.
Hmmm.. Roti Canai is not one of the healthiest food considering I’m already overweight.
Once in a blue moon is ok I guess
Two open sources of WiFi can be found
HaloFriend8 coming out from Halo Cafe and AirZed - source: Coffee bean in OUG Plaza.
Only HaloFriend8 is free. But I can access AirZed too since I have a paid account. However, today Airzed seems slow so I switched to HaloFriend8. But I switched back to AirZed when I had to check my banking transactions (don’t trust Halo connection that much).
Mamak shop bill:
Teh O Ais x 2 = RM 2.60
Roti Telur = RM 1.60
Total = RM 4.20
Reasonable as it would be RM 2 per hour at the cyber cafe nearby.

Ha ha.. you are right.
But I think Halo cafe does offer Free WiFi as an added service for their cafe. They can’t help it if their WiFi signal spills over to the mamak shop too. Unless they can find a way to limit the range of their signal
