Domain tasters beware!
I was happy to read this from Domain Tools Blog. Finally Google is going after people other than bloggers like myself. Their latest punishment is dealt to people involved in domain tasting.
Domain Tasting is where somebody tried to make money by registering many temporary domains and place Google Adsense on them. The incentive for doing this is that within a period of 5 days (known as the Add Grace Period), a domain registrant can decide to delete a domain off without paying a single cent. These websites are essentially link farms with no real content but rely on the domain name accidental hits or search engine results to get Adsense revenue.
By disallowing these domain tasters to monetize on contentless domains, Google is sending a strong message that they won’t tolerate people who ‘devalue’ their search results. How many times have you Googled something only to find yourself in a spammy domain URL? I applaud Google as this step also reduces Google’s own revenue share from advertisers on these sites.
Indirectly this also mean that potentially more advertising dollars will go to ‘real’ websites once millions of these fake content domains cannot put up Adsense ads anymore.
