Compensation from Advertlets?
Getting your blog hijacked to another page is a serious matter for bloggers earning money from ads. For example, I could not remove Advertlets code from my blogs on Sunday because I was away in Ipoh. For about a day all my blogs that had Advertlets ads were redirecting my readers to a parked page resulting in loss of revenue.
To their credit, Advertlets did say sorry for the mistake of not renewing their domain. However, their said compensation that was supposed to be announced yesterday has been postponed to within this month.
If I choose to continue with Advertlets, can I be assured that this will never happen again? And how do you intend to compensate us for the error?
The domain has been renewed, and we will make sure that this can never happen again. We resolve to do better in future, and have more failsafe options available. A financial compensation plan is being worked out, and will be announced on
Monday. (We will take more time to assess the situation to work out a compensation plan that will be satisfactory to all, will be within this month).
I don’t earn much from this blog (yet) as my major income comes from my other Chess blogs which unfortunately, has Advertlets on them. Those are my main money earners. I’ll be interested to see the amount of compensation that Advertlets thinks I’ve lost for all the time from their mistake. How do they know how much any blogger has lost during the time they were preventing regular readers from reaching their publisher blogs? Josh himself mentions 15,000 bloggers under Advertlets program. The announcement of compensation may just be as detrimental to the company as the domain name mishap if the compensation amount is inadequate.
In the meantime, Advertlets have a lot of damage control to do with the latest spotlight article from Techcrunch. For me, I’m removing ALL advertlets code from my ALL my blogs until everything is solved. A quick WHOIS search reveals that the Advertlets domain is renewed till 4th Jan 2010. However, that’s something Advertlets should have done when they first started. It’ll take some time before I even consider reinstating Advertlets ads.
Last 7 days income from Advertlets:-

Pretty disappointing really, as not only is Advertlets income been dismal the past 2 months, they’ve even managed to stopped me from earning from my other income streams for one full day.

We lost Adverlets… and now NuffNang comes out another plan called Glitterati. I expect I can earn more from it

Yeah. Advertlets is gone from this site too.
However I’ve not been accepted in Nuffnang’s Glitterati program yet. Hmmm.. maybe some of my other blogs still has Advertlets in it.
