Thanks 5xmom!

Thanks, 5xmom, for buying a spot on my Scratchback widget. Finally, it doesn’t look so pathethic with 5 empty spots

I love the idea of ScratchBack by James Kukral. Take note that you don’t get the 100% of your set price for a spot. I chose USD 2.88 for a spot on my widget. I’m going to get a nett of USD 2.22 only because of the additional cost of PayPal and Scratchback commission. OK let mne bring out my calculator..
Gross: 2.88
less 10% 0.29

2.59
Paypal 0.37

Nett 2.22

I do not know how much PayPal charges, and I’m only deducing based on the Total Earnings reported by my Scratchback’s dashboard. I may be wrong as the charge could be before or after the 10% is deducted.
Maybe somebody can come up with another Scratchback clone without going thru PayPal’s 12.8% ‘tax’. It seems to me that programming such a system would not be that difficult. Note that Scratchback is letting advertisers keep 90% of the income during the beta stage. After the beta, you only get 50%.
Again, THANKS 5xMOM.

We get 90% and Scrathback get 10% when they are in beta. And thanks for the thanks. LOL. I was going around getting a bunch today from a few blogs.

After reading PayPal’s transaction rates I understand now. PayPal charges 30cents + 2.9% on top of the charges. So it’s better to charge a rate higher than the minimum USD 1.
If a person directly tips you via PayPal to PayPal there is no transaction fee involved but then there would not be the automated process of sticking his link into the widget.
So there’s the tradeoff I guess.

Scratchback is cool. You might be interested to know there is a similar widget available at http://www.bringabuddy.net. It allows for link sales as well as rewarding visitors for referrals…
Check it out..
