Paid Posts Advertisers Penalised?
I got a surprise email from one of my paid sponsor requesting me to remove a paid post immediately from my blog (not this one) that was just slapped with a PR4->PR2 demotion. It was a strange requests. I have no problems with it because I have already been paid for the sponsored post a couple of months back.
What’s curious is that I am offered USD 100 for removal of that post. I think that post only paid USD 10 to write but now they are paying USD 100 to remove it? Of course, I don’t quite believe this but promptly removed it to see if they’d really pay the USD 100. I have nothing to lose deleting an old post and it was as easy as clicking the delete button. The email address looked genuine and they knew details like the ad index number. I didn’t doubt the email and it is unlikely to be fake.
If this is true, this is a worrying new development for paid posts companies. Advertisers are running helter skelter and moving away from paid post ad agencies. When Google penalises the blogs that write the sponsored posts, Google can easily follow the links back to the ADVERTISERS that paid for it. A hundred is a lot to pay just for removal of a post. It is the sign of desperation and panic.
Is Google going to penalise the Advertisers as well?

Hey there,
How did u get an email from Google?
November 12th, 2007 at 10:04 am
No the email was not from Google but was from the Ad company. Not from Google. Their clients wanted me to take off the paid review I wrote for their customer website on my blog.

Wow… you can make some serious money from this.
BTW, I like you blog header. You’re right - No fair! They can fly!

Yeah USD 100 is serious money but it’s a one time thing. Let’s look at the bigger picture. If Google have their way, sites like TLA, PPP, Smorty, SponsoredReviews, Blogvertise will all shut down.
Yeah the 2superheroes are already flying. Their traffic is always > 100 while mine is on the ground at less < 100.

Yeah, Google probably wants to shut them down unless they pay some ransom money. Ha ha.
Re: superheroes… it’s more like their traffic is >10000 and yours is <10. Don’t worry, everyone can dream and even the big ol’ oak tree started from a tiny little acorn.

Ha ha..thats why IZEA come out with different traffic monitoring metrics to bypass Google.

It’s a new “Make Money Online” strategy… Add links for free (but call them paid) and then get money to get them removed…
I think the advertisers were thinking the other way. Google penalized those who were getting paid and not the one who were paying…
November 13th, 2007 at 12:51 pm
I don’t think it’s a strategy as no one plan for this to happen
November 14th, 2007 at 5:12 am
So did they pay you 100 USD?
November 14th, 2007 at 9:32 am
After I delete the post I emailed them and they asked for my PayPal email account. Just checked and I haven’t been paid yet.

If a person wrote 100 sponsored posts before & advertisers pay them $100 for a removal, then that means 100X100= $10000 US Dollar… Hmmm, not a bad deal!

ha ha.. true true..
However, I’m sure this is just a rare, isolated case.
