This blog competition has really pushed me far because I had to give up my diet and do some food reviews to get some traffic :)

Here, I go even further as I took the KTM train to Klang just to try out their Klang famous Bak Kut Teh.

In case you don’t know, Bak Kut Teh is a famous chinese soup popular in Malaysia and Singapore.
Bak = “Pork”
Kut = “Bones”
Teh = “Tea”

So the translation is literally means “Pork Bones Tea”. It consists of a combination of herbs and spices boiled together with pork meat and bones for hours. I have always loved the smell of Bak Kut Teh. I miss my hometown famous Bak Kut Teh in Teluk Intan, Perak.

However, according to most people, Klang Bak Kut Teh is the most famous, so I had to try whether that was true or not. Problem was that I did not have anybody to ask so I just went to the nearest shop I could find in Klang. I figure this will only be my first “review” and there will be more sessions to hunt down the best Bak Kut Teh shop :)

Ok I took the train from Mid Valley to Klang which was the wrong place to take it!! I almost ended up in Seremban. Anyway I took the opposite train back to Sentral (which is the correct place to start) and made it to Klang before noon.

Got off the train station and headed right. To tell you the truth I’ve never been to Klang on my own so this was an adventure.

Followed my nose and found a corner shop serving Bak Kut Teh.

I quickly ordered and waited to be served. My Hokkien was rusty but it was enough to order one Bak Kut Teh meal for one person.

“Tua ah si Seh?” the restaurant person asked me - (Big or Small). “Tua” (Big) I answered.
.. and I got this..

Don’t look like enough to fill me as I was hungry but I would order extra if this was not enough.

Finished the rice and the Bak Kut Teh. The meat was so soft it melted off the bones. Just the way I like it!!

So if you are ever in Klang and took the KTM train there. This is the nearest Bak Kut Teh Shop you can go for.

I recommend it and give it 3.5 stars out of 5. Not four because it’s just average and I still hold a high standard to my hometown Teluk Intan Bak Kut Teh at Glutton Squre. :)

So any Klangites out there? Can you recommend the best shop for Bak Kut Teh for my next food review ?

PS: I didn’t order seconds because after whacking the meat, I was quite full already.

Cost: RM 3.75 x 2 (KTM ticket to and from KL Sentral - Klang) = RM 7.50
Bak Kut Teh (1 person) = RM 9.00
Total = RM 16.50
