5xmom dropped to PR2

I read 5xmom’s PR demotion from PR4 to PR3. I was shocked to see yet another demotion of PR 3 to PR 2 on my FireFox SEO statusbar. Talk about getting bitched slapped by Google twice!
I thought my toolbar was wrong as Google can’t be that heartless. So I checked with PRchecker.info:
So I guess it’s true then.
Why is Google reducing PR in stages? I see this happening with other top blogs too.
A shot across the bow perhaps. Sort of like a warning shot.
It’s as if Google is saying :
Warning !! Stop doing paid posts/links or else!
Failing that Google gives another PR demotion if the warning is not heeded ?

paid post / links will be the first priority than PR ba

Depends on the blogger I guess. If your main income is from paid post and PR ranking has a huge impact on you when it comes to taking posts that require high PRs.
For example, there is dilemma when PR3 bloggers drop to PR2 and can’t take those PR3 posts. That’s a big difference! Unless some other metrics is used to judge the popularity of your blog.
There are already efforts to develop a replacement to Google PR but I don’t think it would come anytime soon.
If your income is not from paid posts or links (like Problogger.net) then you are not affected much (or not at all).
