Bulletin Boy for the week
That’s right. I’m now doing data entry work and my job designation temporarily changes from jobless blogger to bulletin boy. That’s just for one week. You see I’m recording the games played by strong chess masters at the Dato Arthur Malaysian Chess Open starting tomorrow at Cititel MidValley Hotel. You see, chess like football can also be a spectator sport. Instead of watching the match on TV, the entire chess game can be recorded into special notations and replayed back on the chess board. Lots of people download this recorded notations to be replayed and watched on their computers. It’s geeky but it’s our chess addicts version of a World Cup match.
In Cititel Hotel, you’ll find (at the 5th floor), “chess gladiators” from countries such Vietnam, China, Indonesia, America, Scotland, Singapore, Australia, India, Philippines and of course Malaysia battling it out for cash prizes and prestige,. It’s a very tedious and tiresome work doing data entry but I do it for the love of the game. I can afford too now that my lifestyle allows me more flexible working hours. I’ll still be blogging but not for cash. It’s just to inform chess lovers the round by round happenings at the biggest and grandest chess tournament in Malaysia. Of course, it’s not a purely charity work. I’ll be paid a couple of hundred for my troubles and get to stay the whole week at Cititel Hotel. ![]()
