My home Streamyx connection died on me and I have been able to get online from home for several days now. S

Tonight I’m outside of my house at a mamak stall using the WiFi connection there.

I hate to sit here in my work clothes late at night when I really want to be in the comfort of my house. Anyway I’ve completed some sponsored posts and finally feel satisfied I’ve done something.

In situations like these, I really come to appreciate tools like Google Gears. In case you don’t know, Google Gears is an open source browser extension that allows you to work with certain web apps (that support Gears) to go offline and still work.

Ok let’s take an example. I really want to go home now but I’m just itching to read all my normal RSS feed stories I have subscribed in my google reader (reader.google.com). I just click on the “offline” icon and it starts downloading all the articles in my feed into my notebook. Now I can just go home and read them at my leisure offline.

To me that’s simply just too cool. I just downloaded about 2000 news item in a couple of minutes. But the only problem is I think I cannot close my browser window. So I’m going to send my notebook into “hybernate” mode and wake it up when I reach home.
