I hate Andrew Ooi
Yep that’s my name. But I don’t hate myself. Just hate it when I do a vanity search in Google for “Andrew Ooi” some other stupid professor holding the same name pops up. What irks me is that I’m definitely more active in the cyber world having had my own websites since the days of Geocities in the 1990s and later hosting sites on paid servers.

As you can see, my website only comes out on the 3rd line on Google. And that’s only a page I started for fun on a free local webserver.
No offense Professor Andrew Ooi, but I’m going to erase your name from the first page of Google!
My main website, Gila Chess Patzer only comes out on the 8th line. I also have my personal blog on blogger(http://andrewooi.blogspot.com) but it didn’t even turn up on the first page.
I just don’t understand how Google ranks websites ? The Professor’s webpage is inactive and has no updates for almost a year while my blogs are updated quite regularly. I guess it ranks higher because it was on a University page?
(* sigh *) I bought this domain, AndrewOoi.com primarily to kick the Professor down from the no. 1 search item for my name.
Let’s see how it goes. And yeah, of course there is be no link to the Professor on this post or anywhere for the matter on this blog ![]()

well, you just have to try a little harder to try and remove that professor off that top spot! I know you can do it. About Google’s ranking, I think the site being on a University domain, it would be more “relevant” than your own blogs, well, It’s just a thought.

Yes I know that must be it. The university domain just favours more highly on Google’s ranking system. However did you notice that the no. 1 page is only a template. The professor hasn’t even filled in his details except for his name and faculty. That’s what got my blood boiling. I will claim the no. 1 spot for my name one way or another.
